As the
regulatory authority for dietitians in British Columbia, the CDBC is
responsible under the Health Professions Act for establishing and
maintaining a Quality Assurance program to promote high practice
standards. The Continuing Competence Program (CCP) fulfills this
legislative requirement and supports the College's mandate to serve and
protect the public.
As part
of the CDBC Quality Assurance program, Registered Dietitians are
required to complete the CCP every three years (annual updates are
highly recommended). The CCP requires Dietitians to self assess relative
to the CDBC Standards of Practice and, in the third year, submit a
Professional Development Plan that includes professional development
goals, learning activities and progress to meeting the goals and a
description of the goals’ contribution to practice.
The CCP
is now available in an online format. It was developed in 2010 by
Claymore Inc’s SkilSure® software program under the guidance of the
College’s Quality Assurance Committee.
